Challenge : 3 in 1

Hello !
This is one layout which i did using prompts from 3 different challenges :

I also tried to do some water-coloring and hand-stitching using embroidery floss.

here is my LO :

for my kraft elements : i used 2 birds, a border on the top and the big heart. also used a light kraft color patterned paper as my background.

for my messy painted buttons : i painted white buttons to include purple, green and gold.  this is what i did :
purple buttons : i used alcohol ink - eggplant and cranberry
green buttons : i used distress paint
gold buttons : i used gold color shine with gold paint.
(the only reason i did this is cause i didn't have these colors in my stash, but i have a lots of white and clear buttons so this worked out great :), i wish it could have turned out a bit neater, but after i added the floss i guess it looks ok)

for my water-coloring : Mardi Gras title
i'm not very good at this. this is what i did :
1. i printed a Mardi gras doodle by doodlesave in a smaller size and fussy cut it.
2. painted it with water-colors. (note to self : next time use water-color paper instead of regular cardstock, the water makes the cardstock warp a lot)
3. i then outlined everything with black water-proof marker. (though i didn't have any bleeding of the printer ink, the lines were very faded, that's why the outlining.)
4. lastly i applied a thin layer of Glossy accents (i love this stuff :) i did this to saturate the colors a bit and give it a sheen which made it look a little cooler :)). Since Glossy accents is water-based i recommend dry-brushing it and working quickly.

for my stitching : i didn't use any pre-made stitching guides. i just let the element shapes guide me and poked holes around it.
1. on the heart element - i stitched the buttons. stuck it on my LO. then made holes around the heart and did a straight stitch to accent it.
2. 3 cross-stitches to the top-right : did this to bring in the purple. i lightly drew 3 X's. poked the holes. rubbed my marking and did the stitch.
3. banner : did this to add a little festive look. i first drew a line where i wanted my banner to be. then used the ek-success banner punch out as a guide punched holes. And then did a back-stitch.

hope u like my LO and please do try some water-coloring and hand-stitching on u'r projects, it is really fun.

Thank-u for stopping by. :)

Challenge : MMM : Stencils with Modeling Paste

Hi !
This is what i did for the Mixed Media Monthly challenge.

challenge : Stencils with Modeling Paste

I used this technique on a project life spread. Stencil i used is a Prima stencil with white modelling paste on a very busy printed card, just to tone it down and add some texture.

here is the spread.

here is a close-up of the effect

I also used the new Heiddi Swapp Overlay Project life 4x6 overlays.
I really love them. it really adds so much so easily.

note : it only appears a little cloudy at first cause of the thin film over it which needs to be removed.

The only problem i had with it was after layering the overlay above the photo and then putting the card in the protector sheet the photos appear a little dull. So i had to cut away the clear overlay which was over the photo. yeah i know it sort of defeats the purpose but i don't care. my photo are small so i can easily make it work. i still love them :).

Thank-u for stopping by. :)

P.S. : I made the "love" 3x4 frame and shared it as a freebie : click here for the download link

Challenge : SSS Monday : Scratched Up

Hello !
This is what I did taking inspiration from the
Simon Says Stamp - Monday Challenge : Scratched Up
The challenge : do anything that had some distressing of any kind.
So i took my alcohol inks, foil paper and an embossing folder.
This is what i made.

what i did :
1. emboss my DCWV silver foil paper.
2. dabbed alcohol inks -  mix of lettuce, slate, butterscotch.
3. sanded it lightly
4. dabbed a little gold alcohol ink in few spots using the same felt piece.
5. sanded it again where i put the gold.
6. punched out a few shapes. and done ! :)

here is my layout i used these pieces in.

I used alcohol inks on the metal letters and sanded it a little for a more grungy look. I also used distress ink to distress the edges of my layout and to do some imperfect stamping.
Thank-u for stopping by.

Embellishments : binge Cricut cutting : Accent Essentials cart

Hello !
Today i wanted to share how i use my Cricut machine. After i got the Silhouette i have hardly used my Cricut. But i have 13 carts each costing a lot of money so obviously i want to get the most out of that.
I came up with binge cutting and thanks to Cricut-CraftRoom. If u haven't yet tried it u just got to. Its pretty cool and love the free font they have in the software. I'm still not able to link my gypsy but i think they r working on it.

My process when i scrap - i like all my embellishments already made and i just choose what i want to put on the layout. I have found that is easier for me.

This is what i do. today i will share my process using Accent Essentials cart.

1. select all the images i like on the cart. and place them in 6x6 size areas. cause i will be cutting these from 4 papers.

2. i choose 4 papers from one 6x6 paper pad. (yeah i have too many of those.) sometimes I do mix the papers with another having a neutral color, but mostly it will be be from one 6x6 paper pad. That way i know when i layer the pieces they will co-ordinate.
also i try to choose double-sided papers so that i can get even more variety in my designs.

today i choose papers from MME-Lost&Found2 and Authentique-Kraft Black/White. here is showing the A Side and B Side.

3. then set up the papers on the mat and cut.

4. then i separate my flower layers. and i also separate the other elements in board categories - like swirls, stars & hearts, others.

5.  next i assemble the flowers. On some i use brads and some i use foam tabs. i will distress or scrunch or glitter then as per my layout later on when i use them.

From the off-cuts i punch out small circles or small scallop circles to add to the layers if i think i need it.

6. lastly, I put all the different element categories in small baggies, and i put everything including the off-cuts in 1 zip-loc bag and label it with the name of the paper-pads i used.

I do the same steps with different 6x6 paper-pads.

here is another example using 6x6 pad from Pebbles-Family Ties.

I will also re-shuffle my images in the craft-room for 4x6 paper placement - to use my DCWV 4.5x6.5 paper pads and do 1 set. (i do trim my papers to 4x6).

here is one using 4.5x6.5 DCWV paper-pad

Aren't they cute. lovin them. they all look different though they r all from the same cart.

this way i know i have used my Accent Essentials cart and my 6x6 paper pads and my 4x6 paper pads.

Hope u have enjoyed this share and this inspires u to look at u'r Cricut carts in a new light.

If u have any questions/comments please leave me a note in the comments.
